The project called for a strongly defined solid oak chevron floor throughout the principal spaces of this Balwyn North residence. The layout needed to connect the formal entrance, curved hallways, living areas, kitchen, upper landing and feature staircase.
The chevron geometry required careful centre-line planning through curved walls and around the sweeping stair void. Detailed work was also needed at the staircase base, timber door surrounds, perimeter borders and decorative stone floor insets.
Alpine Woods Flooring installed 710 × 123 × 18 mm AB-grade solid European oak in a chevron layout with 3 mm bevelled edges. The installation included perimeter borders, transitions around stone floor features and coordinated timber stair treads and nosing details.
The completed solid oak floor creates a continuous chevron rhythm through the Balwyn North home. The pronounced bevelled edges emphasise each piece, while the dark custom finish complements the cream wall panelling, black balustrade, marble joinery and curved staircase.
