The interior designer selected Danehill engineered American Hickory to provide a neutral natural-timber foundation for the Wheelers Hill residence. The flooring needed to connect the double-height living room, kitchen, dining area and adjoining circulation spaces.
The straight-plank layout needed consistent direction through the open-plan interior and careful alignment around the kitchen joinery, wall openings and open timber staircase. The natural Hickory colour variation also required balanced board distribution across the connected rooms.
Alpine Woods Flooring installed 1900 × 190 × 12 mm Danehill engineered American Hickory boards with a 2 mm veneer. The floor was fully bonded to the substrate in a straight-plank layout through the living, dining, kitchen and hallway areas.
The completed Danehill floor brings a continuous neutral Hickory tone through the Wheelers Hill home. Its wire-brushed matte surface complements the black and white kitchen, pale stone, full-height windows and open timber staircase.
